5 STARS
Pros: Not too many new characters introduced into the mix so it's easy to keep track of everyone/Grace is a good addition to the crew/Sonia and her "secret reveal" at the end of the book is a great cliffhanger and a great place to start the new novel. It definitely leaves the reader wanting more.
Cons: It's not exactly a con but all the ways that the loose threads tied together so very neatly and conveniently at the end was pretty unrealistic/The love triangle between Risa/Connor and Cam is forced and contrite.
Full Review:
We're back again, following the journeys of Lev/Connor/Risa and Camus Comprix, the "composite human" made entirely of parts from Unwinds to see where they all end up. Lev and Connor are together at the beginning, having realized that the mystery behind Unwinding and how it came to be may all lie with the old Antique shop owner, Sonia in Akron, Ohio. After Risa's big reveal on live television that she was being blackmailed by Proactive Citizenry into supporting unwinding, she's on the run knowing Roberta/Proactive Citizenry are hot on her heels. And Cam, convinced that if he destroys Proactive Citizenry from the inside out, then Risa will have to love him is on his own mission.
Without giving anything away, most of the loose threads come together at the end. At least, Risa/Connor are together, Cam is back with Roberta/Proactive Citizenry and Lev is staying on the Arapache Reservation, up to his own deeds, which the reader is not yet privy to what those are.
The book ends on a fulfilling and exciting note. We learn what might be the trick to bringing down Proactive Citizenry and Unwinding itself but of course, the protagonists have to put everything into motion. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the fourth and final novel and seeing how this all comes to an end.
