“Theo, a quiet, unassuming, older man comes to Golden on business. When he sees portraits lining the walls of the local coffee shop and is amazed at the quality of the artwork, he decides that his mission is to buy each portrait and give them to their rightful owners, the subjects of the paintings themselves. What follows is a gentle, genuine, feel good story of one man's mission to spread beauty and love wherever he can. And Levi does not disappoint."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pros: Theo was a genyuinely good, kind, caring person and it was easy to love him as a character/Though the ending was abrupt Levi tied it all together well and I had a tear in my eye.
Cons: The writing started to feel a little stunted, staccato, wooden/The bestowals became a bit repetitive and the ending was surprisingly abrupt.
Full Review:
Theo, an 86 year old man is in the small town of Golden on business. When he visits the local Coffee Shop, The Chalice and sees the lines are walled with portraits, he asks the proprietor, a man named Shep, who the artist is. It turns out it's a local man, Asher Glissen. Truly taken with the mastery of the art itself, Theo also sees the story behind the portraits. He's fascinated by the subjects and decides to buy each portrait, track the subject down and gift them their portrait to do with as they will.
It's not long before Theo has enlisted the help of some of the locals in his "mission." And as he bestows more and more portraits, we learn a bit more about the people of Golden and about Theo himself. He's a truly kind, genuine, caring person who appreciates the beauty of nature and firmly believes that Faith and Love are two of the strongest forces in life. And that's what his mission really is, to spread love wherever he can.
Though the ending was surprisingly abrupt, Levi tied it all together well and I admit, I had a tear in my eye. This was a genuinely moving, heartfelt story about one man's mission to bring people together instead of driving them apart. And in his quiet, kind way, Theo does just that in his brief stay in Golden. He is truly an Angel and all those who encounter him are changed.
