Cons: Everyone falling for Andrea, she's like flies on pie. But, eh, it is what it is.
Full Review:
With Dale gone, the group hits the road once more. And it turns out that as they get closer to D.C., Rick is eager to see if Eugene's picked up any sort of transmission from the Government. He goes to check the radio, but Eugene tries to wrestle it away from him. It drops to the ground and lo and behold, there are no batteries in it. Eugene confesses that there never were. He wasn't working for the government, he wa sa high school science teacher and all he had going for him was that he was extremely intelligent and a very good liar. Abraham is understandably enraged and let's Eugene know it.
Abraham and Rick are trying to figure out what to do when someone approaches them. His name is Aaron and he admits that yes, he's been spying on them, but it's for a good reason. He's from a community not far from D.C. where they interview people and accept them. And he wants Rick and his team to join the group. At first suspicious, the group later on decides that it seems like too good of an offer to let up, so they follow Aaron and are led to Alexandria.
There, Rick is interviewed by Douglas Monroe, the leader of the community. He decides that Rick would best be suited as constable and goes about interviewing the other members of the group and assigning them tasks. Abraham is put on the construction crew to help expand the walls, Rosita will work with the doctors, Maggie will be a teacher, Glen will be a runner again etc. Douglas' wife, Regina, barges in and demands to know what he thinks he's doing. And Douglas explains that he's doing what's best for the group. Rick's group has survived out in the wild for over a year, they need their skills. Heath, a member of the community, admits that he gets a bad feeling from Rick, that he reminds him of Davidson. Douglas explodes, demanding that Heath never, NEVER say that name again. That he doesn't even want to think about Davidson and what he did, what he made them do, so there's obviously something going on there.
Everyone is understandably, a little on edge and unable to relax. It all seems too fake. But they don't leave, they just make sure to stay alert. Andrea and Rick have a talk on the porch of his house, admitting that this just all seems too good to be to be true and they've been through enough to know that usually when that's the case, it is too good to be true, so they'll be on their guard.
They hold Halloween, the kids go trick or treating, but Carl refuses to take part. He feels that this is stupid, that everyone's pretending and that when they leave, which he knows they eventually does, that he doesn't want to be weak and get killed. Rick is horrified but understands where his son is getting from. That's why, during the "meet and greet" party held in their honor, he has Glen pretend to get drunk and is escorted out of the party.
Once everyone checks in for the night, Rick goes to talk to Glen and asks if he's "feeling better." Glen explains that he's had a "miraculous" recovery and Rick asks him what he found. When they first were brought into Alexandria, Douglas asked them to hand over all their weapons and that they store them in the house closest to the fence, for security purposes. When Glen was pretending to be drunk, he managed to get a look and saw that the guns were just in a room, not in a safe or anything, they should be easy to get back. And that's what Rick wants him to do, to get their guns back. It's obvious that Rick is not letting his guard down any time soon, and really, you can't blame him.
