4 Stars.
Pros: Maggie and Glen's relationship is a bright spot in an otherwise bleak situation.
Cons: Michonne's payback on the governor, though justified, is gruesome.
Full Review:
With the help of a man named Martinez, Rick, Glen and Doctor Stevens and his assistant Alice, escape Woodbury. They rescue Michonne but she stays behind to pay the Governor a visit. She does everything he did to her and then some. After she finishes with him, she escapes and heads back to the prison. They all make it back safely only to find the prison overrun with zombies.
It turns out that when Tyreese came back from looking for them, they didn't shut the gate in time and the zombies swarmed in. They manage to clean up and everyone, except for Otis escapes unscathed. They're all back, safe and sound, for the most part, at the prison. Glen, back with Maggie, manages to find a ring on one of the zombies. He asks for Hershel's permission to marry Maggie and Hershel gives it. Maggie says yes, so that's a bright spot in an otherwise horrifically bleak situation. As the rest of the people work on cleaning up the bodies of the zombies, Rick realizes that Martinez is gone.
He realizes what's happening and finds him on his way back to Woodbury. Martinez says that he wouldn't have brought the Governor back, but that there's plenty of room at the prison for the other people of Woodbury. Rick doesn't believe him and chokes him to death, no hesitation, no remorse. Once he returns to the prison, he confesses to Lori that he's afraid he's losing his humanity, that he's realized there's nothing he wouldn't do to make sure that Lori and Carl were safe, and that include killing any or all of their friends in the group. He asks her if that's evil and Lori admits that she doesn't know.
Rick eventually calls a meeting and warns the group of the existence of Woodbury and that though he doesn't think they know exactly where the prison is, they're still going to be looking for it. They're out there and whether or not the Governor is alive, they're still going to come looking for the prison. And when they do, the group has to be ready for anything.
